The Sea-Ice Marathon Business Run Relay is a truly unique running experience on natural sea ice, with both the start and finish located on the frozen waters outside Södra Hamn. This extraordinary setting turns a relay race into an unforgettable adventure.

Teams of four runners each complete 5 kilometers, combining teamwork, endurance, and fun. With more than 750 participants from over 30 nationalities, the Business Run brings together companies from around the world for a day focused on health, vitality, and connection.

The race starts at 11:00 and takes place during the lively marathon and skating week, creating a vibrant atmosphere both on and off the ice. All teams celebrate together at the finish — every runner receives a medal, and the winning team earns the rotating Sea-Ice Marathon trophy.

More than just a race, the Business Run is a powerful networking and branding event. Companies can participate through team registrations or sponsorship packages, gaining visibility on-site and online while supporting an active, healthy lifestyle.

Practical information

Below you can find the practical information for Sea Ice Marathon 2027!

Time and date
Event date: 28 February 2026

Start time 11:00 AM

From 09:00 you can pick up your envelope at the large Tipi tent on the ice in the southern Harbour.

Timekeeping and bib number
30-60 minutes before your start time, you can pick up your bib number from the large tipi tent on the ice at the Southern Harbour. For timing we work together with Racetimer which uses RFID technology. This technology identifies the competitors via a disposable chip integrated with the bib number.

Group booking / company
If you wish to make a group registration and to receive an invoice, email the name, date of birth, women’s or men’s class and phone number for all participants. Also email invoice details.

Track stretch
The start will take place on the ice outside the southern harbor area. The race is only on the ice rink. The race will consist of several laps around the ice rink.

The image just shows an example! Depending on the weather and ice conditions, the route may be different.

Catering point, beverage and buns
There will be two liquid stations with water and hot juice to choose from. You can also take a small bun (giffel) for quick energy. At the finish line you get a banana, cake and more drink.

Bag drop
It is possible to leave your bags in the large tipi tent on the ice outside the southern harbor area.
NOTE: Leaving stuff on own responsibility, we do not replace stolen or lost belongings.

Impression

Dressing
There is the possibility to change clothes in one of our tipi tents on the ice, but it is better to come changed as this is not a regular dressing room
NOTE: no shower facility.

Healthcare
We will have a doctor on site and the opportunity to transport injured runners to the southern harbor area on a scooter.

Award ceremony
Price in all four distances for placing first, second and third in women’s, men’s and youth class (under 18 years).
Everyone gets a buff from Icebug.
The award ceremony takes place approximately 10 minutes after the last participant has crossed the finish line. There is a price distribution for each distance and it takes place at the tipi tent.
Of course, we also raffle some prices and this only applies to participants who are on site.
