You run on natural sea ice which makes this race feel different from any road marathon. The open landscape, the cold air and the shifting surface create a challenge that keeps you sharp from the first step to the finish line.

On 16 February 2025, runners from around the globe will gather in Luleå, Sweden, to participate in the coolest marathon in the world – the Sea-Ice Classic marathon. This event invites participants to challenge themselves in a stunning natural environment, offering a choice of 42km, 21km, 10km, or 5km races on natural ice. This unique marathon is a unique addition to the Schaatsen Luleå program, brought to you in collaboration with Explore Luleå.
